Dear Pool Members,
The 2006 Amity A.C. swimming season will begin on Saturday
May 27th. The pool will be open the
weekends of May 27th, 28th & 29th and June
3rd & 4th from 12:00 noon till 8:00 PM.
The pool will also be open, conditions permitting, Monday June 5th
thru Friday June 9th 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
The regular full season will begin on Saturday June 10th with
hours from 12:00 noon until 8:00 PM. Starting
in July the pool may stay open until 9:00 PM conditions permitting.
During adverse weather, it is the pool manager's decision whether to
close the pool or stay open. ANY
VARIATION IN THE POOL SCHEDULE WILL BE POSTED AT THE POOL.
Everyone is required to enter the pool through the main gate
and present membership cards at the office as stated in the pool rules.
Your 2006 membership card(s) can be picked up at the pool office on your
first visit. Stop at the office on
your way in, give your name and you will be told your 2006 card number which in
most cases will be the same number as last year.
Your cards must be taken with you when you leave for the day.
Use this number when you request your card(s) at the office each time you
leave. Membership cards are to be
used only by the person named thereon.
ANY person not included in a membership and not owning a membership card
must pay guest fees and be accompanied by an active member.
IN FAIRNESS TO OUR DUES-PAYING MEMBERS, THIS RULE WILL BE STRICTLY
ENFORCED. Daily guest
rates are: ADULTS $5.00 & CHILDREN $3.00
(under 1 free), with a limit of one guest per membership card.
Weekly guest rates for legitimate out-of-town guests may be arranged
with the manager at the pool office.
The pool rules are posted on the bulletin board.
In consideration of the very high cost of liability insurance and the
difficulty obtaining it, please observe these rules carefully.
Make special note of the following rule which will be enforced: Children
under 12 years of age MUST be accompanied at all times by an adult or
authorized person who is at least 16 years old.
Help the staff keep your family safe by watching your own children.
POOL PERSONNEL ARE NOT BABY-SITTERS.
The pool's private telephone line is reserved for pool
business. Incoming calls, when
necessary, should be brief so that the line is open for emergencies.
All out-going calls must be made on the pay phone located outside the
main gate.
Parents of driving teenagers - reckless driving
and speeding on A.C. property will be reported to the police, and offenders
prosecuted.
In order to enable the staff to clean the dressing rooms, and
to avoid unsightly clutter, we will not be allowing the storing of chairs,
playpens, tubes, etc. at the pool.
SPECIAL EVENTS – Tuesday, July 4th will be Family Day with fun
games and activities for the whole family.
This year's Kiddie Night will be Wednesday July 12th.
Planned activities include games and a short movie.
Please check the pool bulletin board for times and additional
information. We would also like to
schedule a Teen Night if there is enough interest.
Have your teens talk to Jess or Adam at the pool office.
ADULT NIGHT – We have tentatively scheduled a Steak Night for adult
members of the pool. It will be
held, based on sufficient advanced ticket sales, on Saturday August 5th.
Catering will be provided by Boyer’s Market and includes “grill your
own” steak and other prepared foods. There
will be a disk jockey for dance music. Please
note that due to recent changes in our liability insurance alcoholic
beverages will not be allowed at this event.
Sign up at the pool office. Payment
will be required in advance.
SWIM LESSONS - We will be offering swim lessons this summer for five
one-week sessions beginning Monday June 19th and ending Friday, July
21st. Classes will run
for 30 minutes starting at 10:00 AM, 10:40 AM and 11:20 AM.
They will cover levels I through V and offer stroke clinics for more
advanced swimmers. Testing for
level placement will be available. The instructor has the right to move participants to the
level appropriate to his/her ability. Lesson
sign-ups will be on a first-come, first served basis. The $20 per week fee must be paid when you sign up.
Be sure to sign up early at the pool office.
SWIM TEAM – The 27th Annual Amity Invitational Swim Meet
will be held on Saturday, July 22nd. This is a fun day to come support the Blue
Marlins! For more information about the team, please read the information

POOL COMMITTEE – All pool members are welcome to attend committee
meetings and share ideas, but we need steadily participating persons to
become voting members of the committee.
Please consider attending our pool committee meetings. Dates of the meetings will be posted in the pool’s bulletin
board and on the web site.
